Ever endure a stressful week and consider never leaving your bed ever again? Well now that the weather is getting nice out, how do you justify not taking advantage of it! No worries, we have a solution for this problem… MOCK!
If you haven’t looked into the leisure activity of hammocking a whole lot, no worries, we can help.
The first thing you need is a decent hammock. If you aren’t sure if hammocking is for you try borrowing from a friend or consider buying a cheaper one off of amazon, as they can be priced as low as $15. If hammocking is new to you, I would suggest starting with a cheaper option unless you are planning on mocking off of major cliffs from the start.
Second you need to find two sturdy trees that are close together. Lucky for you guys, here at Iowa State we have PLENTY! If you’re having trouble finding some on campus I suggest looking around the Campanil, Lake LaVerne or up by the Oak/Elm dorm area.
After you have those two steps covered you’re almost set to mock! Now all you need to do is set up your hammock, which doing this takes less than a minute as long as you know what you are doing. Every hammock is a little different but in the end all you need to do is make sure the two straps fit around the trees you are choosing to use and then hook the bed of the hammock onto the straps (there should also be instructions included with your hammock to guide you as well). If your you’re still unsure, check out this YouTube link on how to set up a hammock. Once you’re all set up you should be set to hop on in and relax. Though, if you’re really in the market to heighten your mocking experience you might consider bringing some snacks, a speaker, or maybe even a book!
So there you have it, the three easy steps to set up your hammock. Now it’s time to sit back, relax, and mock!
