In case you haven’t noticed, Iowa is cold… very cold. That’s why our very own Iowa State Water Ski club decided to make the trip out to the D2 Collegiate Nationals in the Bell Acqua Water Ski Lakes in Rio Linda, California! Along with the water skiing, the team was able to do some sightseeing and still manage to find time to soak up some California sun. Here’s how they did:
The team ended up placing 5th at the D2 Collegiate Nationals with the Iowa State Men’s team placing 2nd overall!
Here are some individual podium placements:
- Ryan Schipper placed 3rd in Men’s Overall, 5th in Men’s Slalom, 5th in Men’s Trick, and 3rd in Men’s Jump
- Chris Kownick took 5th place in Men’s Jump
- Amanda Luttschwager Rose took 2nd in Women’s Overall, 2nd in Women’s Slalom, and 5th for Women’s Jump
“We are happy with our results and the fun and memories made on this incredible experience. We are thankful for a university who lets us travel the country and spread the good name of Iowa State University,” says club president, Christopher R. Kownick. “We are incredibly proud of all our teammates and the dedication they put towards their passion, each and every person contributes to the sport.”
