The Buffalo River Trail winds through scenic overlooks, old home sites, and rugged wild areas for 37 miles. You will have the opportunity to hike up some steep gradients and switchbacks that will lead you to spectacular views of the river. There is also terrain in the river corridor that is more forgiving to hikers as it follows the meandering river. The Outdoor Program staff explored this area a couple of year s ago while doing a kayaking trip on the Buffalo River and the trip leaders came back excited about backpacking in this area.
