Divisions:  Male, Female
Location:  Ames/ISU Ice Arena - Gateway Hills Park Dr. (just south of Towers Residence Halls)

Description:
Broomball is played on ice wearing gym shoes. Each team has 4 players and a goalie on the ice at one time. The teams try to hit a ball that is smaller than a soccer ball into a net, using a broomball stick -- see flyer picture (below).

There is an "Elite" division for men's Independent teams. The "Competitive" division is offered for Women, Independent Men, Residence Hall Men and Fraternities. The "Recreational" Division is open for: Residence Hall Men and Women, Independent Men and Women and Sororities and Fraternities. Teams should choose the skill level they feel is appropriate for their team -- click the "Broomball Information" link at the bottom of this page for a detailed description of the divisions/skill levels. Teams are limited to 15 players on their roster and a maximum of 10 can participate in a game...we don't have enough helmets to allow more than 10 players at a game. The game is 10 minute halves with a running clock. The majority of teams will have 7-10 players on their team. You do not need to know all of your players when you register. You may add new players to your team, by bringing them to your game.

REGISTER your team online and print out the "Registration Payment Form". The team fee is $45 and must be paid with the "Registration Payment Form" at the Recreation Services Office - located SE of State Gym between Helser and Martin Halls. The $45 fee can be paid with cash, check, MasterCard/Visa or with a full page IM Purchase order form from the Campus Organizations Office. Rec Services Office hours are: Mon.-Fri. 8am-5pm.

Eligibility:
Current ISU students, faculty, staff, affiliates and spouses of students/faculty/staff are eligible to participate. Everyone must have a current ISU ID card and present it at each game. Spouses and affiliates who do not have a current ISU ID card may purchase a card at 0530 Beardshear - $15 per year.

Forfeits:
$20 forfeit fine for teams who do not show up for their game. You may avoid the fine by notifying the Sport Director in advance if your team will not be able to play their game.
