Personal Training

Personal training is an opportunity to work one-on-one with a qualified fitness specialist. You will receive a program that has been individually created to suit your wellness level and fitness goals. ISU personal trainers have the background, knowledge, and experience essential in designing a program that will work for you.

Our mission is to provide you with the skills, strength, and knowledge to set and obtain your goals. We are committed to helping you reach your fitness goals in a motivated, knowledgeable and non-judgmental atmosphere.

The effects of personal training will vary according to each individual. Results depend upon personal application, realistic goals and a commitment to the program. Combined with a personal commitment from you, personal training will:

Personalized Training Sessions

Depending on the goals you establish with your personal trainer, sessions may be one hour or 30 minutes in length and include:

  • Weight and/or resistance training
  • Abdominal/core strength training
  • Flexibility/stretching exercises
  • Interval training
  • Circuit training

The Trainers

Recreation Services personal trainers are students at Iowa State University. All trainers have completed a semester in-house personal training program and have been hand-selected to represent Recreation Services. Trainers are working toward or have earned a national certification by the American Council on Exercise and attend continuing education courses to stay up-to-date with current industry research and trends.

Getting Started

Step 1: Complete this online form to be scheduled for an initial fitness consultation.

Step 2: Complete the New Client Information Form found here (New Client Information Form (PDF)) and bring it to your fitness consultation.

Step 3: During your fitness consultation, we will help you complete a contract and make payment at the Recreation Services Administrative Offices for whichever personal training package you choose.

Personal Training Cost

Please Note: All personal training sessions expire six months from the date of purchase.

Sessions must be completed within six (6) months of purchase. Refunds will only be issued for the remaining sessions left in your training package. Sessions refunded must fall within the six months of purchase date.

You must have a current valid Rec Pass to utilize personal training services.
